Soar Through Learning
Deuteronomy 4:5-8
Opening Remark: Eagles soar through the process of learning and mastering.
“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft.” (Deuteronomy 32:11)
“Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” ” (Deuteronomy 4:6)
1. The knowledge of God is the most valuable knowledge.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)
"For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." (Hosea 6:6)
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
2. The valuable important knowledge is life-giving knowledge.
“But all of you who held fast to the LORD your God are still alive today.” (Deuteronomy 4:4)
“And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.” (Genesis 45:5)
“But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31)
3. Wisdom is teaching the most valuable things of life.
“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.” (Proverbs 3:15-16)
1) Knowledge and wisdom are obtained through education.
2) Knowledge and wisdom are obtained through suffering.
“A sickbed is narrow but the world that is imagined on the sickbed is big and great.” Uh-Ryung Lee
“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
3) Knowledge and wisdom are obtained through prayer.
“What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?” (Deuteronomy 4:7)
“Prayer is soaring for high-altitude flight.” Uh-Ryung Lee
Closing Remark: Drawing near to God is the highest wisdom.
“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” (Psalm 73:28)
